Need a gift idea for the kids? Today’s idea is great for both boys and girls; and I’m sure the parents will enjoy them too.
DIY Toy Jars
These jars are exceptionally flexible and affordable. The toys that I used on top were bought at Goodwill. For a girl it would be fun to do a My Little Pony or Polly Pocket. The frosted jars are the Droppar series from Ikea. These work nicely because they pull off as opposed to the twist off of the mason jars. In addition to the toys, I also purchased the mason jar from Goodwill. The only other item that you need is E600 glue. To make these jars, simply glue the toys onto the lids and let dry!
If you opt to use mason jars, also make sure you glue the lid to the band. You could also use scrapbook fabric on the lid to make it fun and festive. Make sure you glue the lid to the band before adding the toy otherwise you might not be able to get the band back on.
Want to add a little bit of something extra to this gift? You could fill the jar with Legos or Calico Critters.

This idea is so cute, Kendra! I need to make one of these to store all my daughter’s hair bands & bows in! :)

That would be cute!

I agree that this idea is a cute one. Kids love containers and personalized ones are great. I am a bit concerned about giving glass jars with toys to children. Clear plastic jars would be a great substitution especially in the case of one to be used to store items for a child in a bathroom. If a glass jar slips out of the child’s hand while searching for that perfect bow or hair band and lands on a hard surface it could very well shatter. Just wanting to avoid injury here while still having fun.

These have pretty thick & sturdy glass – similar to glass baby bottles. But if you find plastic lidded jars they would work just as well.

These are adorable. For a great alternative to the mason jars, check out the local Dollar Stores…often there are plastic kitchen storage jars for under $1…bonus, no fear of broken glass! r, if you’re a flea market/garage sale junkie like me, just watch for whatever you can pick up ! My mind is reeling with possibilities…

These are so cute and so simple! It would be so easy to customize this for the recipient by just choosing an appropriate toy for the top. Thank you for linking up this awesome idea at This Is How We Roll Thursday.

This idea is adorable! My daughter has a large tup with smaller containers inside it to store her legos, but a jar like this with a mini-fig on top would be great to hold all her mini-figures displayed on a shelf!

I love this idea! Functional AND cute! I’m sure you could put an adult spin on it too, with grownup themed finds on top! Maybe like cute drawer pulls or mini ceramic figurines? It would be worth a try! Thanks for sharing with us at the Family Joy Link-Up! Hope to see you again next week!
