One of my friend’s kids absolutely loves Angry Birds, especially Bubbles, one of the lesser known Angry Birds. Ever since I bought some Printable Vinyl I have been looking for a project perfect for it and this past weekend I decided to make him a personalized Easter Basket.
Angry Birds Easter Basket
- Blank basket/bin/bucket (this one is from the Dollar Spot at Target)
- Printable Vinyl
- Transparent Permanent Adhesive Vinyl
The Bubbles image is from the Angry Birds Wiki page and the font is “Angry Birds” from daFont.com.
This project is created using the Print & Cut Feature inside the Silhouette Studio. One thing I did learn is to make sure that all of your design is inside the cut lines. I tried to design stuff all the way to the page and had to re-do a few because they didn’t get completely cut out.
Once I positioned Bubbles and the name in Design Studio I created an offset around the image so that it would have a white border along the entire image. I’m still perfecting my Print and Cut skills so this makes it a bit more forgiving.
The Printable Vinyl isn’t permanent so I topped the image with some clear permanent vinyl. In order to get the overlap of the clear I took the image from the print & cut page and created an offset, this will give an even border around the entire design. Even with a laser printer, this paper is a bit touchy and you only get one shot at applying the clear topping. You can see a bit on one of the black feathers where I had a bit of trouble applying the top coat.
Hopefully Mason will enjoy his Bubbles themed Easter Basket (plus whatever his mom puts inside).
I definitely plan on trying out more projects with this printable vinyl – what would you like to see?
