Exciting news here at Simply {Darr}ling! Brad and I are Adopting! We’ve still somewhat in the beginning of the process so it will be some time before we actually have a baby home but we wanted to share all this exciting news with you.

Funny Story – when we were at UW taking this photo somebody asked us if we had lost our child and this was our way of finding them.

Last month Brad and I traveled to Portland for a 2 day seminar at our agency. During that time, we learned more about the agency’s philosophy, heard from a birth mom and adoptive parents and got to know more about the process. We had our intake interview last week and are officially accepted into the agency so now we’re starting the homestudy process.

Most likely we will be able to finish the home study in the next 3 months and then will be in the pool waiting to get picked!

How You Can Help

First of all, pray for patience. We could be bringing a baby home in just a few months or it could easily be over a year. I could put together a nursery and have it ready in less than a week so it will take some restraint to hold off for a while.

Pray for the birth family. We don’t know what sort of situation our birth mom will be in that leads her to adoption but she will be involved in our lives from the moment she picks us on. We are going with an open adoption agency which means that we will be communicating and visiting with the birth family forever and they will become part of our extended family.

Most likely this adoption is going to cost around $35,000 when it is all done (based on the agency fee and other miscellaneous fees not included in there). Based on this number, we will be working on saving up and fundraising. I’m compiled a few ways that you can help us reach this goal.
