I love the Olympics. Generally, the Winter Olympics don’t get quite as much love as the Summer Olympics; however, it is just as much fun to watch all the difference races and events (curling anyone?). If you are getting ready to cheer on the USA this year in the Winter Olympics, I have the perfect cocktail for you to enjoy! This Winter Olympics Cocktail would be perfect for the opening ceremony, closing ceremony, and any of the events in between.
Winter Olympics Cocktail
- 1 Ounce Chamboard
- 1 Ounce Cranberry Juice
- 2 Ounces Champagne
- Frozen Blueberries
- In a glass, combine chamboard and cranberry juice. Pour in the Champagne and top with frozen blueberries
My goal with this Winter Olympics Cocktail was to have a bit of Red, White, and Blue; however, the red & white pretty much mixed together to just create a lighter red color. It still tastes quite delicious and is a fun drink to enjoy while celebrating the games. The frozen blueberries serve a double purpose. First, to add something “blue” to the drink; and second, since they are frozen, as ice cubes! If you want; you could also mix it up and throw in a few frozen raspberries as well.
The Winter Olympics were just a couple hours north of us in 2010 and I’m a bit upset with myself for not getting tickets to any events. I love doing “unique” activities (especially when we travel) and this would have been a PERFECT event to add to the list of things we’ve done. The Olympics return to the US in 2028 so I’ll definitely have to make sure and find a way to attend that year.
The Opening Ceremony for the Winter Olympics is February 9, 2018. Since that is a Friday, I’m thinking that we will need to have a viewing party with some other Olympic-loving friends. This cocktail will definitely be making an appearance and I’m sure it will be a hit!
Are you a fan of the Olympics? Which events are your favorite?
