Well, I didn’t exactly plan on taking a tour of New York City desserts, but after spending almost 2 weeks in the area it kinda happened. I did know that I wanted to visit DO while in NYC; however, the others were last minute additions. I’m sharing a few of my favorites with you today, I hope you get a chance to visit them as well!
Desserts of New York City
First up is DO. I waited about 45 minutes from getting in line to finishing checkout. I visited on a day when it started POURING so I figured the wait was a bit less than normal. The wait didn’t seem too bad, although my purse got soaked since I couldn’t fit it inside my rain jacket. I got one of their special editions with circus animal cookies. It comes in a cup, but I opted for the waffle cone to make it even more ice cream like. I will say, it is SUPER RICH; I think I ate *maybe* 1/4 of it. Definitely a delicious treat.
Next up is Taiyaki. I happened to visit on National Ice Cream Day so there was a line outside since they were offering BOGO on cups. I got the Unicorn cone which included a strawberry-vanilla swirl, custard filled waffle cone, and some cute little fondant toppings. I probably waited about 15 minutes to get through the line and it might have been my favorite dessert. I wish it had been about 10* cooler outside because it started melting the second I walked outside and had to inhale it quickly before it turned into a puddle of ice cream.
I talked about traveling NYC as a solo traveler; however, I did meet up with a friend for lunch and a bit of exploring one afternoon. One of the places on our list was 10 Below for some rolled ice cream. One awesome thing about 10 Below is that you can add as many toppings as you want. I ordered the S’mores Taco and added a toasted Marshmallow, whipped cream, and a strawberry for my toppings. Part of the fun for rolled ice cream is watching them make it. Before the person makes your ice cream, they call your name so that you can get up to the front and see the rolling action.
Finally, there is Black Tap for a ridiculous shake. This is the Cake Shake, which actually features a slice of funfetti cake on top. I knew that I couldn’t have *just* a milkshake for dinner so I also had a burger salad. It was so delicious, and it wasn’t so heavy that I couldn’t enjoy some of the milk shake. The shake part of the milk shake isn’t huge, just more the crazy toppings. I got pretty close to finishing the milk shake portion, but left quite a bit of cake on top.
I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into some delicious desserts that I enjoyed while in New York City!
