Do you know somebody who is always baking and bringing dishes to parties? Today’s A DIY Christmas post is a perfect gift for this person.
My friends Murray & Caitlin got married a few months ago and Caitlin makes the most amazing Artichoke dip so I thought they would be the perfect candidate for this gift.
DIY Etched Pyrex Dish
I etched their name on two ends of a square Pyrex dish and put their monogram on the bottom. Make sure that all the etching is done on the OUTSIDE of the dish. I should have mirrored the monogram on the bottom since it will be viewed from the inside of the dish generally.
For their name, I used the Lemondrop font; I love how fun and summery it feels. The monogram is Circle Monogram from Font Bros.
I used my Silhouette Cameo and some repositionable vinyl (don’t use permanent or it won’t come off!) to create the outline of the name then Armor Etch to etch the glass. The directions on the Armor Etch bottle say to rinse it off after 1 minute, but I liked to give it 2 minutes just to make sure it etched thoroughly. Make sure all the vinyl is nice and sealed and that all of the area gets covered.
Glass etching is permanent and can’t really be fixed or even touched up. Since it is permanent it is also dishwasher safe!
I hope Murray & Caitlin enjoy their dish (and that I can enjoy some yummy artichoke dip out of it). Who would you give this to?

McKinney’s my maiden name so now I’m all curious as to whether I’m related to your friends! I love the font you chose!

What a fantastic idea!! ANd not just for a shower or a gift, but why have I never thought to etch some of the casseroles I bring to a potluck or church or function or family? Sometimes I do disposable, but I’ve always thought that it can be a bit tacky under some circumstances.
Thanks much for coming to Throwback Thursday and sharing!! :)
