I found some fun glass orbs at my local Goodwill and knew that they would be fun to upcycle into something for my garden. I love glitter so some glittered garden decor was a perfect answer!
Glittered Garden Decor
In addition to the glass orb, the other needed materials are:
If you don’t find a glass orb at a thrift store, you probably can find some at Home Depot in the lighting section.
The first step is to squirt some floor cleaner into the orb and swirl it around until all of the surface has been coated. Once it has been coated, flip it upside down so that the excess can drain. Repeat this process with the glitter. It will stick nicely to the floor cleaner. I did this a little bit at a time until it was completely covered.
I found some glow in the dark spray paint in my garage and thought it would be fun for the orb to glow at night. I did three light coats, the glass gets a slight yellow haze on the surface where it is applied.
The picture wire is used to create a loom for the garden orb to hang. Wrap the wire around a the lip of the orb twice and twist the ends together. Cut a piece of wire approximately 8 inches long and create a loop then twist the ends under the wire already there.
At first, I thought it would be fun to make it into a planter; however, there is no hole in the bottom for the water to drain so it wouldn’t work very well.
I’m looking forward to putting this outside; but I’m waiting for the rain to stop so that it doesn’t get all full of water. Do you decorate your garden?
