We may be well past prime summer grilling season, but it isn’t too late to fire up the grill and enjoy some delicious grilled chicken. Brad and I are already gearing up for our favorite football rivalry game which this year happens to be the day after Thanksgiving (I’ll be doing my Black Friday shopping from my phone as we drive the RV to the stadium).
We always have quite the party when the game is on this side of the mountains and love getting a huge group together as we eat, drink and have fun until the game starts. These parties are the perfect time to pull out the grill and enjoy some delicious food.
Since we want to make sure that our grilled chicken recipe is perfect for the tailgate, Brad and I tested it out this past weekend. We swung by our local Fred Meyer to pick up some Foster Farms drumsticks and Stubb’s BBQ sauce.
- 1 Package Foster Farms Fresh & Natural Drumsticks
- 1 Bottle Stubb's Sweet BBQ Sauce
- 4 cups Apple Juice
- 4 cups Water
- 2 Tablespoon Garlic Salt
- 2 Tablespoon Onion Salt
- 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- In a large Stock Pot, layer the Foster Farms drumsticks.
- Pour in the Apple Juice & Water
- Sprinkle in the garlic salt, onion salt and ground ginger.
- Place in the fridge for 24 hours
- Lightly brush the chicken in Stubb's Sweet BBQ Sauce
- Grill the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees
- Serve with a side of BBQ Sauce so each person can coat it to their liking
We have this great stock pot which is perfect for this recipe because we can pile all the chicken in the pot and let it brine overnight in the apple juice, water and spices.
Right before we put the chicken on the grill I pulled them out of the brine and laid them out on cookie sheet so that I could brush on a light layer of BBQ sauce before they headed to the grill.
This chicken was absolutely delicious. It was super juicy and flavorful. Stubb’s comes in a variety of flavors so there is bound to be one that you enjoy.
I like that Foster Farms Fresh & Natural uses chickens that are raised local here in the PNW and area also American Humane Certified. The Stubb’s sauce is so delicious and comes in a variety of flavors (and if you happen to be Celiac they are certified gluten free!).
If you are looking to recreate this recipe, all these ingredients are pretty easy to find in their respective poultry and condiment aisles.
I hope you have enjoyed this delicious chicken recipe and are inspired to fire up the grill a few more times this fall. Get more ideas for delicious Chicken recipes here!

My family is a football family and we love to grill this time of year. It’s not cold yet here in Texas so we love grilling some chicken with a great BBQ sauce. [client]
