Homemade Limoncello

Homemade Limoncello is quite easy, it just takes some time. I meant to post this a few weeks ago; however, I kinda forgot about it half way through the process while it sat in a cupboard. This is a delicious and smooth drink that can be sipped by itself or mixed into a cocktail.

A fresh limoncello can be enjoyed on its own or mixed into a cocktail.

Ingredients
  • 6 Lemons
  • 750 mL Vodka
  • 1.5 cups Sugar
  • 2 cups Water
Instructions
  1. Zest the lemons
  2. Combine vodka with the lemons
  3. Let sit 2 weeks
  4. Strain the lemon zest out of the vodka
  5. In a sauce pan, create a simple syrup
  6. Combine the Vodka with the simple syrup
  7. Store in an airtight container in the fridge

Instead of sitting two weeks, mine seeped in the lemons for closer to 6; most of the flavor comes through in the first 2 weeks but the last few weeks just gave it a bit of extra oomph.

Homemade LimoncelloThis turned out absolutely delicious. It will be perfect to sip while enjoying some fresh pasta on the deck this summer. I also can’t wait to try out some cocktails with it mixed in.
