I hadn’t done an update in a while about how my injury was progressing. Currently I can walk best in a boot but I am progressing into a shoe. Yesterday I drove for the first time; Brad and I went up to the grocery store about a mile away. I can break better than accelerate because the pedal is closer. When I walk in a shoe I pretty much just step flat-footed so I’m working on walking normally in Physical Therapy. I’m in my 4th week of Physical Therapy and about 2 weeks into walking in the boot.
My mom made a comment a couple weeks ago that is very true: its a very good thing that I didn’t know that it was going to be THIS long when I first injured myself. When I first got injured I had a 6 week recovery number in my head so I thought that I would be back to work in the middle of August. Yeah, not so much. I have definitely been blessed with an amazing boss and coworkers who have allowed and helped me work from home for the past 12 weeks. (Thanks guys if you are reading this!). My friends have also been great with getting me out of the house and taking me shopping or to froyo.
The biggest achievement of this past week is being able to walk and stand barefoot which means I get to wash my hair in the shower instead of the kitchen sink! I’m going to have to get used to waking up earlier for when I get to finally go back to work. I will definitely be ready to get back to a normal life once this is all over.
