I often have random purchases if I start wandering around the grocery store (I’m the worst at Costco, this is how we ended up with all new tupperware a couple years ago). The most recent random purchase were a couple starfruit because I thought they would be cool for a cocktail garnish. Then I started walking around the store figuring out what sort of cocktail I should make with them. I came up with this delicious drink which is somewhat tropical inspired; so I think it is the cocktail that Santa enjoys on December 26th once all the presents have been delivered.
Santa’s Tropical Vacation Cocktail
I like using the Nectar juices for tropical inspired cocktails. They have some delicious flavors which can be harder to find in the traditional juice aisle. Plus, if you are just making a couple cocktails, a single can is the perfect size.
- 1.5 ounces Vodka
- 2 ounces Guava Nectar
- 2 ounces Cranberry Ginger Ale
- In a cocktail shaker, shake the Guava Nectar and Vodka together with ice
- Strain over ice into a glass and top with Cranberry Ginger Ale
- Garnish with a slice of starfruit
If you are making this cocktail outside of the fall/winter, it may be hard to find the Cranberry Ginger Ale since it is somewhat seasonal. This cocktail would also be delicious with Sprite or standard Gigner Ale.
I can just imagine laying on the beach during vacation drinking this cocktail and forgetting about the cold and rainy weather back home. If you can’t head to the beach this winter, hopefully you can enjoy this cocktail next to the heater and pretend that you are on a wonderful beach vacation.

The only thing I’m missing from this recipe is the nectar. That will be taken care of tomorrow and then I will get a head start on Santa with this drink!
