The past few weeks I’ve been gearing up for summer. One of my favorite parts of summer are delicious, fresh berries. A couple weeks ago I was at the grocery store and noticed that some raspberries and blueberries were on sale, so into the cart they went. Along with some other fruit, we enjoyed some delicious fruit salads with our dinner. Since then, I’ve been grabbing some fruit whenever I go to the store and willing it to be summer.
With lots of fresh fruit comes fruit flies. If they aren’t managed from the start, they can easily take over the kitchen. I have found the solution for getting rid of fruit flies. Check out below on how to make the easiest and best fruit fly killer.
The Easiest & Best Way to Get Rid of Fruit Flies
When I say this is easy, I mean it. I can make this in less than 30 seconds.
Pour 1-2 Tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar into a small glass. Put 1-2 pumps of dish soap into the apple cider vinegar. Place the glass as close to the fruit as possible. For large amounts of fruit (like when I buy a flat or two of berries) I’ll make multiple glasses and place them around the kitchen.
I swear this stuff is magic. In the peak of fruit (and fruit fly) season, I’ll make a batch of this and by morning there will be dozens of dead fruit flies in the glass. I’d much rather have them floating in this rather than flying around my delicious berries. Generally I swap out the solution daily to keep it fresh for fruit fly catching.
Now you can enjoy the fruits of summer without worrying about those pesky fruit flies. I’m already dreaming about picking up some flats of berries at our local fruit stand in a few months. Until then, I’ll just have to suffice with overpriced out-of-season berries and frozen ones from last summer.

Yes! We had fruit flies real bad when we first moved in. A little ACV did the trick.
