This holiday season has been so magical watching Emmett experience everything with fresh eyes. While he may have enjoyed events in the past, it really seems like he knows what is going on this year.
While the holiday season is just beginning, we have already taken Emmett to experience a few local displays. He loves looking at holiday lights and will often dance along to Christmas music in the car.
Our Christmas tree brings squeals each morning when he realizes that it is still in the living room (and thanks to smart outlets I can have it turn on as we head downstairs). We have been finding multiple ways to enjoy the tree, such as letting him rearrange the ornaments and sitting by the tree for snacks and book reading.
Emmett is a bit young (and busy) to sit through The Nutcracker Ballet; however, we can introduce it by reading A Child’s Introduction to the Nutcracker. This book features gorgeous illustrations and talks about the story, costumes, and dancing.
Sections of the book also go into famous dancers and dancing companies who have been part of Nutcracker ballet history. It will be a few years before he is ready for a live performance; however, it will be fun to look through this book each holiday season until then.
The holiday season is a great time to update kids’ wardrobes. I realized a couple weeks ago that Emmett’s shoes were getting a bit tight and he has been loving his new Surprize by Stride Rite Torin sneakers.
Surprize is a Target specific sub-brand of Stride Rite. With over 100 years of experience in kid and toddler shoes, Stride Rite has proven themselves to be a parent favorite. I love that the Torin sneakers are machine washable because Emmett is ALWAYS finding mud puddles when he plays outside. The hook and loop closure makes it super easy to get the shoes on quickly.
Of course toys are always a part of the holiday conversations. Over the past year we have really discovered Emmett’s interests. He loves driving vehicles around the house, and playing with toys in the bathtub.
We love Green Toys, they are made in the USA with 100% recycled materials (and are dishwasher safe because #kids). The moment that I opened the box of Green Toys, Emmett was already trying to drive the car and requesting a bath for the scoop-and-pour tugboat.
The Brave Little Tugboat book is a fun story to read before bath time when he can then play with his own tugboat.
As Anneliese is starting to discover her hands and toys, the Twist Teether is a great addition to our toy collection for her.
Now through 12/17/2021, use code BABBLE for 20% any order of Green Toys.
I cannot wait to see Emmett’s eyes on Christmas morning. He is going to be so excited to see all of the presents and spend the day with family. Until then, we’ll be enjoying all of the holiday festivities and watching the magic in his eyes.
