Welcome to week 4 of Adventures in Fabric Remnants! The item this week corresponds to last week’s Diaper Strap – DIY Burp Cloths. You might have seen some of the items I made in yesterday’s post as well.
This project doesn’t require too much, just flannel and cloth diapers. Make sure to pre-wash the diapers and flannel before sewing them because both of these items will shrink when washed.
For the cloth diapers, I use either the 6-Ply Prefold or 3-Ply Prefold. The 6-Ply are nicer; however, they are a bit more expensive too. I have found the 6-ply at Target as well for a good price.
This can be a relatively easy project. Fist, measure the length and width of the padded section. This will vary between diapers and also can change after washing. The average of mine was 5″ x 18″ so I cut my fabric about 6″x19″. Center the fabric over the padded section, fold under the raw edges and pin.
Sew around all four edges. Make sure to sew close to the outside edge so that the raw edge is caught as well.
That is it! The photo below shows two of these burp cloths wrapped with a diaper strap.
