Are you ready for March and National Craft Month? I’m excited to start this series and am sharing a preview today. These adorable Washi Tape Birds were fun and easy to make. The longest part was choosing which washi tape to use from my stash!
Washi Tape Bird
I purchased the birds from Michael’s. They were only $3-4 each and came in a few different varieties.
Start at the bottom and cut a piece of washi tape long enough to go across the bird. Work your way up, alternating through the different rolls. Once the bird is completely covered, use a razor blade to trim the excess around the edges. To seal the washi, coat it with a layer of mod podge. Make sure to get the edges so that the washi won’t start to lift off of the wood.
The back of mine is just plain wood; however, it would be fun to paint the back and sides a bright pink or green.
Right now, these birds are hanging out on one a table in my living room. It is pouring down rain outside and will continue to do so for the next 3 months so they add a bit of sunshine to my house.
The second bird I went with a bit of Meta-bird by putting birds on the bird!
Aren’t they cute?!?! I feel like I should name them. I will definitely be on the look out for more pieces like this that I can cover in washi tape. I have quite the stash and need to figure out how to use it all! Have you started crafting for spring?

Washi tape is such a great way to take something from blah to awesome. I’ve never personally washi taped anything but I love the objects that others do :)
