Late last year, I decided that I needed to put together a little caddy for my vinyl weeding tools. I was building my inventory for Christmas craft fairs and my etsy shop and needed to find the best way to weed the vinyl designs efficiently.
Weeding Tools for Vinyl
While I had been using the Silhouette weeding tool and simply sticking it to my hand as I went, I discovered that sometimes I needed a slightly different angle for ease of weeding. Also, if I left the vinyl on my hand for too long, the adhesive irritated my skin.
I put together this craft caddy with some of my favorite weeding and crafting tools. Here are a few things that are in my craft caddy (some of them are miscellaneous craft items as well such as E6000 glue and sharpies/pens).
The probe/picks are SUPER sharp so I try to keep the ends covered as much as possible. I had originally bought two different sets and over time have definitely discovered that I use some more than others. I also prefer the single-ended probes over the double ended ones.
The nail polish holder works great for collecting the weeds as I go. it is easy to wipe the probe tip into holder and continue weeding. It is especially helpful for the smaller pieces (like the inside of “R”s and “A”s).
I like to use a sewing tape measure because it is flexible – this is especially helpful when putting vinyl onto something round like a coffee mug or tumbler.
This caddy is perfect for weeding while I sit at the kitchen island. When I’m done weeding the vinyl, I simply put the caddy back in the cabinet or up in my craft room! Do you have any favorite tools for weeding your vinyl designs?
