One of the best things about summer is the long and warm evenings. Brad and I have been enjoying these evenings outdoors and one way that we like to do this is to have a campfire in the backyard. Having a bag of all the essentials makes this an easy evening activity – simply grab the bag and head out to the fire pit.
Summer Campfire Kit
Our summer campfire kit carries all the essentials for an evening of some yummy s’mores and sitting around the camp fire.
The essentials in this campfire bag include:
- Duraflame Roasting Logs
- Paper Plates
- Baby Wipes (because sometimes you need a bit more than a paper towel will do)
- S’more Mallows (they are square shaped and slightly larger than normal marshmallows)
- Graham Crackers
- Chocolate Assortment
- Roasting Stick
- Lighter
Many times our evening campfires include our neighbors. Jaxson was so excited for some campfire and s’mores (he also thought that some of our fresh raspberries should be included in the s’more). He couldn’t wait for the roasting logs to get turned into some amazing coals for marshmallow roasting.
Starting the Duraflame roasting logs are so easy. Simply loosen the paper around the logs, stack them in the fire pit, and light each end of the logs. Each 5lb bundle of 4 logs uses significantly less fuel than a standard 24lb bundle of firewood; while still maintaining more heat per pound. All of the wood used in the making of logs is recycled so Duraflame roasting logs are tree-friendly!
Jaxson (and Kevin) agreed that having nightly campfires is a good idea. It is a great way to slow down and catch up on life with friends. By having all the essentials in one place, an evening campfire can be put together at a moments notice.
In addition to evening campfires, this bag of essentials is perfect for when we have BBQs at our home. Aubree was quite proud of the s’more that she made and definitely had some #SmoreHairDontCare when she got a bit of marshmallow in her hair. Whenever Aubree comes to my house in the summer she asks for two things – to swim in the hot tub and for some s’mores around a campfire. This past weekend we were able to fulfill both of these when she came over.
What sort of items would you add to your summer campfire kit?

Yum! I thought I was crazy for putting non-traditional chocolate on our s’mores, I’m glad to see someone else does too! We keep kindling and wood for fires, but we’d definitely need some gluten-free graham crackers and marshmallows, a variety of chocolates and TONS of paper towels lol.
