I am 150% most comfortable when I’m wearing jeans and a t-shirt; however, there are many times in life (as in almost every week day) where I can’t exactly wear that uniform. Standard black slacks are not exactly my thing, so I’ve been working to find some fun and colorful business casual outfits, especially ones that are perfect for these warmer summer months. It is also somewhat fitting that this week is the 4th of July, because the outfit is Red, White, & Blue!
Summer Business Casual Outfit Featuring Red Pants
Sometimes my favorite outfits are the outcome of impulse online purchases. I bought these red pants from Loft earlier this spring when they were having a big online sale. The Riviera Pants in Marisa Fit have a higher waste that helps hide any sort of muffin top, without being such a high waist that they cut weird when you sit down. I wore them a few times when I was on my most recent work trip for a week and a half.
Ever since my torn Achilles, I can’t wear heels. I can somewhat manage wedges if they aren’t too tall; but flats are my bff. Throughout the year, I’m always searching for fun new flats to wear with my outfits, and I LOVE these “Love” flats! If you look closely, you can also see that Pip loved on them a bit as well, thanks Pip (not really). The striped version are no longer available; however, you can still grab another color.
Even though it is summer, offices can be cold so I find a jacket is necessary. This Navy Linen Jacket is the perfect light weight material to save me from the cold AC of the office, without wanting to die of heat stroke if I walk outside to grab lunch.
Now is the point where I accidentally ended up with a “Red, White, & Blue” outfit. I was thinking about what to wear under the jacket, and white seemed like the immediate choice. This Sleeveless Split-Neck top worked great because it didn’t add any additional bulk in the sleeves, and was a great neutral with the other vibrant colors.
My Kate Spade obsession extends to more than just her purses. I also love many of her jewelry pieces, like this simple One in a Million initial pendent. It is a nice, subtle necklace that I wear all the time when I’m headed to work. The past couple years I have also been wearing a watch almost every day; most recently with my Kate Spade Smart Watch.
Work clothes definitely don’t have to be boring, and this outfit is the perfect example. Adding pops of color and fun accessories helps me add my personality into my business casual outfits.
I will see many aspects of this outfit being reused throughout the summer (and even a few times wearing it exactly like this). Do you have a favorite business casual outfit?
