This post is in collaboration with Smirnoff. All opinions are my own.
The past couple years, we’ve seen a resurgence of Moscow Mule cocktails. These are definitely not new cocktails – in fact, they were originally created 75 years ago by Smirnoff Vodka & Cock’n Bull Ginger Beer!
Smirnoff sent me a few ingredients to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Moscow Mule and I added a Washingtonian spin to it by adding some Apple Cider. This Apple Cider Moscow Mule Cocktail is delicious and perfect for fall!
Apple Cider Moscow Mule Cocktail Recipe
- 1.5 ounce Smirnoff No 21
- 3 ounces Cock'n Bull Ginger Beer
- 2 ounces Apple Cider
- Splash Simple Syrup
- Apple Slice & Caramel Sauce for Garnish
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the Smirnoff Vodka, Ginger Beer, Apple Cider, and Simple Syrup
- Shake, Shake, Shake
- Rim a copper mug with caramel sauce
- Pour cocktail over ice into the copper mug
- Garnish with an Apple Slice
Fall has been working its way into our lives here in Seattle. The mornings have been starting out crisp and the nights coming sooner. As we get deeper into fall, we get more into apple season and the delicious apple cider that comes along with that! This Moscow Mule cocktail recipe taps into the start of apple season for a great twist on a classic cocktail.
The caramel rim is a fun garnish, it adds a bit of sweetness and ties into the Apple Cider theme as well. I’m glad that Smirnoff Vodka and Cock’n Bull partnered to create this cocktail 75 years ago, they are fun to create and even better to enjoy.
I can’t wait for us to get further into apple season and try making this with different varieties of apple cider. Have you enjoyed a Moscow Mule? Did you stick with the classic or try it with a fun flavor?

I’ve made the traditional Moscow Mules but this version looks especially good using apple cider and the caramel sauced rim.
