The walls have been demolished, the plans made, and everything is starting to come back together. Now comes the fun part – shopping for hardware, faucets, and appliances!
I loved picking out the appliances for our kitchen. It was fun envisioning each of them in our house; cooking the Thanksgiving turkey and side dishes in the stove, popping popcorn for movie nights in the microwave drawer, and filling the fridge full of food trays for parties.
Throughout our remodel, we had multiple trips to shop for appliances. Each trip, we would focus on a specific appliance until we had the complete kitchen.
Many times, there are great deals by purchasing an entire kitchen from a single brand, such as Thermador’s ultimate gift with purchase – free appliances! This is a great way to save some money, or add in an additional dishwasher to your plans. If you host a lot of parties, Thermador offers a new configuration to their dishwashers that has been optimized for glasses and would make for an awesome second dishwasher.
Our friends bought a house a couple years ago where the previous owners had utilized this promotion and it was great for us because we were able to use their second dishwasher throughout our remodel.
While fun and exciting, shopping for appliances can also be overwhelming. Learning the differences between brands and the different models within each brand can be intimidating; and with new color options releasing each year, the options seem endless. However, with the right salesperson, they can help guide you through these decisions so you love your kitchen and appliances for years to come.
If you’re in the greater Seattle area, Albert Lee Appliance is a huge help for navigating these options and helping you find the perfect appliance for your needs. Brad and I visited their Bellevue store a few times throughout our remodel; we were impressed with how the sales people really know all the ins and outs of the products that they sell.
When we met with Bonnie in Bellevue, she told us about some of her favorite features of the Thermador ranges. These features are ones that she uses regularly as it is a product that she has in her own home. One of her favorite things to do with her Thermador range is to bake delicious desserts and utilize the simmer function. It is making me even more excited to get ours installed, and I am trying to come up with something awesome to bake for it’s inaugural run.
As we were walking back to the Thermador section of the store, we walked past a fully functional demonstration kitchen. Bonnie told us about how they will have chefs come in to demonstrate different aspects of the appliances. Induction cooking is really starting to make it’s mark in the appliance world. As I learn more about induction cooking, I’m discovering how cool it would be in a kitchen. I especially love the safety aspect of it because it remains cool to the touch throughout cooking.
We went with a 36″ Thermador range for our kitchen similar to the one in the photo below. It has four burners and an electric grill in the center. I wanted our range to be a statement piece of the kitchen as it is right in the center. Bonnie was telling us about how Wi-Fi is getting integrated into newer models and the ways it will be utilized in the future. I appreciated that she was already aware of the features that will be coming into the new models.
The one appliance that we kept from the original kitchen was the dishwasher. It will probably be a couple years before it is time to replace the dishwasher, but I will definitely head to Albert Lee when it is time. If you’re just starting off a full kitchen remodel, or simply looking for some updates with new appliances, make sure to check out Albert Lee for your appliance needs!

I love that you can do this. I mean, I know a handful of things that I want in an appliance but not what those things are actually called in the industry. SO helpful to have someone help walk you through it.

I love/hate appliance shopping. I love to browse and dream and wish, but when it comes down to specifics and what we actually need to fit into our home, I love being able to ask and get help shopping!

I looooove appliance shopping, but only if I go somewhere with a lot of variety. Iām a big comparison shopper!
