Wooden spoons are a necessity of every kitchen. They are pretty plain and boring but they don’t need to be! These dipped wooden spoons also create a great gift and can easily be personalized to their home decor and kitchen colors.
Dipped Wooden Spoons
First thing to do is treat the wooden spoons so that the paint can properly adhere to the wood. Wipe down the wooden spoons with linseed oil using a clean rag. Wait until the wood has dried and then start painting.
I opted not to use painters tape on my spoons (I can never get it straight anyways). I still managed to get a pretty good straight line. Another option would be to actually dip the end of the spoon into a container with the paint. My spoons took two coats of paint.
Once the paint has dried, spray some shellac onto the spoon. This will seal the spoon and paint. Follow the directions on the Shellac can. Once it has completely dried the spoons are ready for use!
The options are endless. My kitchen colors are green so I’m thinking next I will make a set in different shades of green.
