Glitter makes everything better! Last year, I made my mom some Big Bang Inspired Mugs using sharipes but wanted to try out something a little more sparkly so I decided to make some Glitter Coffee Cups. Using my Silhouette Cameo allowed me to use whatever font I wanted and since I’m not the most artistic person this is a great option.
DIY Glitter Coffee Cup
Materials:
In the Silhouette Studio write/draw your desired phrase or shape. Once you have it designed and properly sized for the mug, mirror the design.
Make sure to pick a font that won’t be too small when sized to fit on the mug. I probably should have picked a different font as this one had some rather thin sections.
Once the design is cut out from the heat transfer vinyl, weed the design to remove the excess. Position the design onto the mug (the plastic that is on the other side of the heat transfer vinyl is a little sticky to help it stay on).
Place a thin piece of fabric over the design and then apply an iron with medium pressure on high heat for about 20-30 seconds. Since the surface is curved you will have to do it in sections.
Peel the plastic off of the mug, leaving the design behind. If the design lifts with the plastic, put it back down and apply heat again. Once the plastic is removed, go back over the design again with the iron until all edges are nicely sealed.
The heat transfer vinyl should be dishwasher safe on the mug, but I haven’t tried it out yet.
I can’t wait to use my new coffee cup. What would you put on yours?
