Who loves glitter?? Today I’m sharing a fun craft project that shows off your state and adds a bit of sparkle to your home decor.
Glitter State Art
I have this fun floating frame that is perfect to swap out between seasons or as my mood changes (see it in action with my DIY Gold Foil print)
I used some glittered card-stock from the scrapbooking section at JoAnn’s for this project, this paper comes in a ton of colors and lets you use glitter without dealing with the mess of loose glitter.
There are multiple ways to get the state outline, I’ve even seen a few fonts that are simply state shapes. Washington has some intricate islands in Puget Sound so I found a simplified outline of the state and then used the trace function in the Silhouette Design Studio to determine what to cut.
I also cut out the word “home” from the center of the state using Samantha Italic Font to give it a bit more detail. The cut-out was then mounted on white card-stock and placed in the frame.
I absolutely love how this turned out. The gold glitter is a fun component to add to my mantle. I could see this piece showing up in the frame between holidays or potentially finding a permanent home somewhere else in the house because I love it!
Do you have any fun frames that you like to swap out with the seasons? What sort of things do you put in them?
