One of my friends had a baby (Aubree) not quite a year ago. I was looking for a Christmas gift to give Aubree and decided on a Minky and Flannel blanket. I had some issues sewing the Minky so it didn’t get done by Christmas but I finally revisited it this past weekend and it turned out great!
I used this Minky fabric paired with some flannel from Joann’s. WARNING: the Minky fabric is from fabric.com which is a dangerous site. Proceed only with self control!
Update 1/14: This Minky is no longer available. Search here for other Minky availability.
I used a 1/2 yard of each of these fabrics to make this blanket. The Minky is slightly shorter than the flannel so the flannel had to be trimmed to fit the Minky. The problem that I had the first time making this was that I did not pin enough so the Minky stretched and ended up being misaligned by about an inch. Once I ripped out the seam, I pinned about 4 times as many as before and had a lot less issues. Once it was sewn, I flipped it inside out and then went around the edges with a 3/8″ allowance.
I love how it turned out and got reports that Aubree is carrying it around with her throughout the house!
