A while ago, I shared about my handmade crib sheets. I also wanted to make some custom changing pad covers so that they would match seamlessly into the rest of the room. The colors of the room are grey, and white with accents of turquoise/teal.
The dimensions for this changing pad cover are for a standard changing pad. We have the IKEA changing table and pad but this DIY changing pad cover works on it as well.
Materials:
First, cut a piece of fabric 48″x32″ and remove 8″ squares from each corner.
Next, place right sides together and sew “A” to “B” on each corner.
Minky is great because it naturally won’t fray. Create a 1″ casing for the elastic by folding the edges over and sewing around the edges. Leave a 3″ opening so that you can run the elastic through it. Attach an end of the elastic to a safety pin and weave it through the casing. Once you are back to the beginning, sew the ends together then sew the opening closed.
I think I will be making a few more of these; I found some other awesome fabric which will also blend well into the room.
This changing pad cover turned out great and is one more way that I was able to personalize our nursery. I will be sharing all of the nursery with you here soon; I just have a few more finishing touches to add. Let me know what you think, what colors or patterns should I use for more changing pad covers?

Where was this tutorial when I needed it? I love this idea! Changing pad covers are expensive.
