I can’t believe that Emmett is going to be 6 months old on Christmas Eve. This year has especially flown by with so much going on.
I’m kicking off a week of some super awesome Gift Guides that are perfect for a variety of people in your life. First up we have ideas for Baby’s First Christmas!
Some of the items in this guide were provided for gift guide consideration; however, I am only including items that I truly think are great gifts.
As Emmett inches closer to his half birthday, he’s starting to eat solids, chewing on everything possible, and smiling at anybody who looks at him. The items in this guide are great for this 6 month age, and a few are looking forward for use in the next few months.
Super Holiday Gift Guide – Infant Gift Ideas
ergoPouch
I’ve discovered that I’m a fan of zippers when it comes to baby clothes; they are so much easier than snaps, tying, or tucking (especially at 2am). The ergoPouch Cocoon is designed to be easy on parents, but hard for babies to escape. It also has extra room for the legs in order to be safe for growing hips, and is acknowledged as hip-healthy by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute.
Emmett is super close to rolling over so we have transitioned him to sleeping with his arms out. The ergoPouch Cocoon grows with babies as they make this transition with the ability to open up the shoulders to expose arms.
pediped
In just a blink of an eye Emmett is going to be walking. The pediped originals are designed for early walkers, and fit size newborn to 24 months. The leather shoe allows for grip while maintaining the ability to feel the floor as kids learn to walk.
In addition to casual everyday shoes, pedipeds are also available in absolutely adorable dress shoes! How perfect would it be to have both a casual and fancy pair of pediped shoes under the tree on Christmas morning.
Wooden Growth Chart
I can still remember growing up and constantly asking one of my parents to check to see if I had grown since the last measurement on our growth chart. We had a ruler on a thin wall in the kitchen, and when my parents moved, I took multiple photos of the wall in order to hopefully piece it all together at some point.
A wooden growth chart would make an awesome first Christmas gift. Start the measurements once they are standing, or make it a birthday tradition to mark that year’s spot.
goSili Feeding Spoons
goSili products are made of high quality silicone and feature a variety of products for everybody in the family. These spoons are not only great for mealtime, but they also work as a teether.
I’m all about products that serve multiple purposes so this spoon is perfect to toss in the diaper bag since it can serve as either a spoon or a teether if Emmett needs a toy. Emmett recently started solids and he is having a blast trying out new foods; these spoons are going to be perfect for his stocking.
Britax One4Life
Emmett constantly will fall asleep in the car; however, he’s not a baby who will remain sleeping during the transition out of the car. A convertible car seat would be perfect for us because it is one car seat that will last him through childhood.
The new Britax One4Life seamlessly grows from an infant seat to a booster seat, lasting for up to 10 years of car seat usage! A child from 5-120 pounds, and up to 63″ tall will fit in the Britax One4Life, including up to 50 pounds and 49″ rear facing.
The Britax One4Life is SUPER easy to install thanks to the Click-Tight installation, and the quick-adjust harness offers 15 heights without needing to re-thread the harness. I was able to install and level the car seat in under two minutes since it is basically as simple as buckling the seat belt.
Activity Center Table
Activity centers come in a variety of sizes and are filled with various tactile surfaces and motor skill activities. This Manhattan Tree Top Activity Center is sure to provide hours of entertainment; plus since it is at standing level it will also provide a place for a baby to practice standing and walking.
Stuck On You Wooden Name Blocks
Who doesn’t love personalized gifts? Stuck On You features a variety of personalized items, including bento boxes, activity books, labels, and some super fun wooden name blocks. Stuck On You was founded by a mom in Australia, and is now available in 15 countries. I’m looking forward to some playtime with Emmett as he starts starts stacking, knocking over, and making different patterns with these blocks.
Books
Start the holidays off right by growing the little one’s library. There are so many great board books. I’ve compiled a few ideas into the list above, but there are thousands of books that could be perfect for Baby’s first Christmas!
MAM Friends Teethers
I’m pretty sure that teething is just about imminent for Emmett. He currently loves gumming anything he can get into his mouth. MAM Friends teethers are made of 100% natural rubber and come in super cute animal shapes. In addition to providing oral stimulation for teething babies, they also work to stimulate hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Each teether is slightly different size to address babies’ changing needs as they grow. The MAM Friends teethers are perfect stocking stuffers for teething and not-quite teething babies.
Baby Blue Giraffe Nail File
I discovered this nail file while attending the ABC Kids Expo, and I have to say it is life changing. I seriously dreaded whenever we needed to cut Emmett’s fingernails because I was terrified of cutting them too short. This nail file is made of glass and feels super smooth to the skin, but will file away the thin baby nails. Pretty sure this item is getting added to every baby shower I attend from now on.
Stuffed Animal
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without something soft and cuddly under the tree. I discovered the awesome Jellycat line of stuffed animals (and infant books) and think that they are a perfect addition to baby’s first Christmas. They come in a variety of sizes could be the perfect topper on the stocking, or a large cuddly animal to use as a pillow.
No matter what is given, baby’s first Christmas is a magical time. I can’t wait to decorate our tree and start some fun new traditions with Emmett this year.
