Junk food, Road Sign games, and singing at the top of your lungs. All three of these items are essential to the perfect road trip. Songs that are throw backs to your favorite hits from earlier in life? Even better! One of the great things about making play lists for long car rides is that you can be sure that only your favorite songs are going to play. As I’ve had a few trips down to Portland the past couple years, I love singing along to these playlists to help the miles go by faster.
Throw Back Hits Road Trip Playlist
While satellite radio can be great to make sure you have a constant signal, sometimes you want a more curated list, and a larger selection of music for longer drives. When we traveled home from the Eclipse last summer, we seriously lost count how many times we heard “Strip That Down” and “Slow Hands” over the radio. Fortunately, we were enjoying ourselves so it turned into a running joke.
For my next road trip, I’ve created this awesome Spotify Playlist that features some awesome songs from my school days that are perfect for blaring at the top of my lungs as I head down the freeway. From *NSync to Eve6, Backstreet Boys to Barenaked Ladies, there is a variety of songs in this Throw Back Hits playlist. It has over 50 songs and 3 hours of music so you can get pretty far before any songs would repeat!
One of my favorite ways to listen to my Spotify playlists is through Android Auto. Through Android Auto, the center screen of the car becomes a new interface where you can listen to music, get navigation (through Google Maps or Waze), chat with friends, and more. For safety, Android Auto also locks the phone screen so I couldn’t exactly get a photo of what it look liked on the dashboard.
I was so glad when I discovered that the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander featured Android Auto. I simply plugged my phone into the USB port and was on my way!
I did a lot of driving in the Mitsubishi Outlander while it was in my possession. This included chats with Sarah, navigating traffic, and enjoying music to keep my mind off the fact I was navigating traffic.
In addition to the ability to stream playlists through Android Auto, there are other features of the Mitsubishi Outlander that make it a great road trip vehicle. First up is the 360* view backup camera. When you go into reverse, you get a standard back-up camera, but you also get a top-down view which helps see how close you are to objects on either side of you, and make sure you can clear items in front of you as well.
With the 3rd row of seats folded down, there is a great amount of trunk space. I had a few large items that I needed to transport during the week and had no issue fitting them, as well as a cart, in the trunk.
If you are looking for a great road trip vehicle, check out the Mitsubishi Outlander, and also follow along with the above Spotify playlist for the perfect road trip tunes. What song would you add to the playlist?

That’s a fun playlist! My husband and I took a road trip to PA last month and our playlist was mainly classic rock. Great driving tunes! The Mitsubishi Outlander looks like a nice, comfy ride, too!

Love all the boy bands on this playlist! :D And I am actually in the market for a smaller SUV. Going to have to add the Outlander to my list of vehicles to check out.

You’re making me miss driving a SUV!

I love to listen to music when on road trip, especially those music that will bring back memories. Music from the 80’s to 90’s.
