Brad and I live a few miles from our local IKEA, and I drive past it every day on my way home from work. About a year ago, our IKEA was completely rebuilt (as in, they legit built a new one next door and then tore down the old one). Brad and I will often head there for dinner on Friday evenings as I have a slight obsession with their As-Is section for craft projects. One day, while I was driving home, I had the realization that all the showrooms would make AWESOME scenes for some photos.
An IKEA Lifestyle Photoshoot
When I first walked into the showroom, I had somewhat forgotten about how many price tags were hanging around everywhere. This did limit a few of the options; however, it was so much fun (and Brad was a good husband to help me with this as we walked through the store for a good hour).
Throughout the store, there are mini houses set up to display their various products. There are full on bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, and even a few bathrooms. There are even a few outdoor set-ups, like this fun faux living wall.
Fortunately, Friday evenings are actually pretty calm and only a couple times were there people in the “scene” where I wanted to take photos. I’ve made the mistake of heading to IKEA on the weekends and it is madness. I highly recommend heading there for Friday dinner if you can make it for a more relaxed visit.
IKEA has so many cozy looking beds. I picked this one with all the comfy pillows to sit on for a photo.
I also learned that the books in the book cases at IKEA are actually real. I was a bit surprised to see that it was in Swedish, but this is IKEA so I shouldn’t be so surprised.
I always drool over the amazing wardrobes at IKEA whenever we visit. Some day I will have a nice, large walk in closet rather than the “walk-in closet” that is in our current bedroom.
Want to know a secret? All the “windows” inside IKEA Showrooms are actually really bright, filtered lights. These showrooms are in a giant warehouse, so these lights let them move the showroom around as they want to change the scenes.
I also love this gorgeous china cabinet. It is part of the Hemnes line, and has cool glass doors to see all the fun goodies inside.
This outdoor brick wall might have been one of my favorite scenes in the IKEA Showroom. It looked so summery, and would be the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings.
I had so much fun spending our Friday evening at IKEA and might have to return again for more photos in the future, especially at the change of the seasons when the showrooms change up a bit.

I love IKEA! We live close enough but it’s hard to get to with the city driving and tunnels around here. We truly have to plan a day trip to get there and have a plan of action lol

Fun fact: I have never been to IKEA! There’s one about a half hour away. I’ve passed it many times, but I’ve never been inside. This looks like fun! I would totally take photos in IKEA!

What a fun idea! I feel like I’d have to go right after work, sometimes our (only) Ikea can get super crowded! There’s only one on Long Island, so crazy!

This is such a great idea! Might have to convince my husband to do this with me—and bonus, we can put the kids in their childcare area!
