Camisoles are one of those clothing items that are generally overlooked. I wear one every day and have definitely come up with my favorites. Camisoles are not created equal, I’m sharing a few of my favorites with you below. I have a rather large chest and longer torso so these are the recommendations from my experiences.
Camisole Recommendations
I have two main requirements for a good camisole. First, there cannot be a shelf bra and second, it must be long. I am using a camisole mostly for the length as opposed to chest coverage which is why the length needs to be there. Here are some of my favorites.
Halogen Camisole by Nordstrom $19 – These come in a multitude of colors and in both Regular and Petite. They have nice long length but could be a bit longer. I do find that if I sit and stand a lot the back will start to slide (this might be do to my body shape – if you have smaller hips this might not happen to you). My favorite thing about these camisoles is all the color options. I like to put bright camisoles under black t-shirts for a pop of color.
CAbi Simple Cami $32 – CAbi isn’t the type of brand that you can go into a store and buy. You purchase from a consultant and they can only be purchased during that season. I like to describe CAbi as a Tupperware party but for clothes. This is because you host the parties in your home and place your clothing order that day. The clothes show up about 2 weeks later. These were my go-to camisoles for a couple years but the colors were limited (they do now keep black, white and navy in every season).
Merona (Target) $9 – I have a couple of these and they are nice and cheap; however, the fabric does show its wear faster and I am also between sizes. I bought a few of these when it was hard to find camisoles without shelf bras. They work as a cheap, quick solution.
Kirkland Signature (Costco) 2 for $12 – Years ago, Costco was my favorite place to get camisoles (back then they were the Lady Hathaway brand). I was quite sad when they switched to their own private brand and added a shelf bra. A couple weeks ago, I was at Costco and excited to see that they had removed the shelf bra! These are purchased in a 2 pack and the color selections aren’t the best but they definitely have the basics. I found the fabric to be super soft and comfortable. I also really like how long they are (if I stretched them down all the way it covers my butt).

I love the Tami by Old Navy. Old Navy describes them as a cross between a tank top on a camisole, which basically means that the straps are wider than a traditional camisole. I actually like that the straps are a little bit wider, and the length is nice (I have the riding up problem too because of my hips). I wear them under practically everything, and I even wear them as PJ tops. The color selection is pretty good. They’ve got the basics and quite a few brights as well.

I haven’t tried those, next time I’m at Old Navy I will take a look at them.

I found a camisole that I really liked at RW & CO a long time ago. I actually like a lot of their clothes.

I’ve never heard of that store, I’ll have to look for it.
