Today’s post is sponsored by Groupon Coupons. All thoughts and projects are my own.
I’m sure a few of you are groaning on the other side of the screen that I’m already posting about Christmas; however, craft fair season begins in in just a few short weeks which means that I’ve been creating Christmas projects for weeks.
Today’s project is great if you are looking to make some gifts for friends and family this holiday season as they can easily be personalized.
Wood Slice Christmas Ornaments
These ornaments are so easy to make and the possibilities are endless on how to decorate them.
Materials:
- Finished Wood Slices (they will be nicely dried and sanded)
- Vinyl Decals or Stencils
- Paint if going the Stencil Route
- Screw Eye & Ribbon (Or get the ones pre-drilled)
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut these designs out of permanent vinyl and then applied them onto each wood slice ornament. If you don’t have a Silhouette, you could pick up some stencils and paint to decorate each wood slice ornament that way.
My slices didn’t come with a hole pre-drilled, so I headed to Home Depot and picked up some screw eyes (they are located by the bulk nuts, bolts, and hooks). Brad used the smallest drill bit he had to drill a small hole in the top of each slice and then I twisted in the screw eyes. I had some jute twine that I thought would tie in perfectly to the rustic look of these ornaments.
Before I go shopping for craft supplies, I always make sure that I have coupons available. Did you know that in addition to daily deals Groupon offers online and in-store coupons? Check out all the coupons and promo codes currently available for JoAnn’s!
They have lots of stores available – check out the list here.
I ran out of my first batch of wood slices and can’t wait to get more to make a bunch of these ornaments for my craft fairs and for gifts. Have you started thinking about Christmas crafts? What are you making?
