Once we booked our family trip to Disneyland and the Oogie Boogie Bash tickets, I started thinking of fun family costume ideas. Finding a Halloween costume for a 3 month old is surprisingly hard. All the good ones started at size 6 months, which obviously would be a bit big for my little peanut.
After a couple different theme ideas, I finalized on Star Wars! I would be R2-D2, Brad would be Luke, and Emmett would be Yoda. I have to say, he was a pretty adorable little Baby Yoda.
With the release of The Madalorian on Disney+, Baby Yoda would be a perfect Disneybounding outfit for any baby in your family.
I figured that Brad would be wearing Emmett for a good portion of the evening, so I associated it to the scene where Yoda is on Luke’s back during training.
One of Yoda’s defining features is his ears. I headed to Etsy and found an absolutely adorable crocheted Yoda ears beanie. It arrived super fast and was the perfect focal point of his costume. Emmett didn’t even seem to mind wearing it during our trip.
Next I moved onto the clothing part of his Baby Yoda costume. My goal was to keep with the olive/brown theme and focus on color blocking to create his outfit. The base for his costume was an olive babysuit from primary.com. I had originally planned on using the chocolate leggings for his pants; however, once I realized that it was going to be 90 degrees in California, I quickly switched to shorts. The shorts weren’t available in brown, so I used some olive shorts to complete the clothing part of his Baby Yoda costume.
If you are in a colder climate, they also offer long sleeve babysuits, sweatshirts, and coats that would be perfect for Halloween trick-or-treating.
One thing I couldn’t resist was adding an adorable pair of Star Wars themed Freshly Picked Moccasins.
In addition to the Oogie Boogie Bash, Emmett wore his Baby Yoda costume around Galaxy’s Edge for some great photos. Let’s just say that Emmett was a huge hit in his outfit and there were even random strangers taking photos of him in his costume. I mean, how can you resist this face?
We are still debating our plans for Halloween, and we’ve heard that our new neighborhood actually gets a good number of trick-or-treaters, so this year we might just welcome all the trick-or-treaters and wait until next year to take Emmett around the neighborhood.
I can’t wait to see what other costumes we create for Emmett in the future, but I’m sure his first Baby Yoda Halloween costume will always hold a special place in our hearts.
