I love shopping for holiday gifts. The thrill of finding the perfect item for each person, and tend to start my holiday shopping in the summer as come across items.
When I’m shopping for my own kids, I love finding toys that will keep them active. I also look for toys that span a large age range so that they are played with for multiple years.
I’ve compiled some of my favorite toys for active kids that last for years. These toys are a mixture of indoor and outdoor play, and have a wide range of price points to fit any budget.
Some items have been gifted for consideration. I only recommend products I truly love.

Emmett has absolutely loved this addition to our swing set. Both kids can easily fit inside and is perfect for adding imaginative play to our backyard. The rope from the space capsule can also be removed to make it an indoor or outdoor playhouse.
Use code SIMPLY15 to save 15% off the swing through the end of November 2023.
Make Believe is fun with this pretend store and food. It comes with play money, credit card, and play food. This store has provided hours of entertainment for both kids, and it is interesting to see how differently they play with it.
A fun kid cart to have your own Target shopping trip at home. It also pairs perfectly with the pretend store. I love how it even comes with a little starbies cup holder, because even my kids know that we often stop there on our Target trips.
Hours of entertainment for all ages! We have had ours for a few years and it is still going strong. Both my kids enjoy jumping on this while they play outside, and it is always a hit when friends visit.
Magnetic building blocks have provided hours of entertainment. The Magformers have lots of fun themed sets that can also be used for open-ended play. They are great for a wide age range, the builds simply get more elaborate as the kids grow.
Suction building toys that are both fun and funny. My kids laugh as these toys "pop" when pulled apart. They've enjoyed sticking them together, to the windows, or even each other's foreheads.
Emmett received these for his 1st birthday and they still get pulled out regularly. Each block features a sensory component such as beads, liquid, sand, or colored acrylic.
I often look out into our backyard and notice that the digger has moved to a different place around the yard. Emmett uses it to dig in the dirt pit, play chips, or to pick up toys in the grass.
Our childhood PE memories can be relived with our kids and this scooter board. It can be used inside or outside. Ours lives on the deck and has been a major hit all year.
Each jump leads to a squeak (but not in an annoying "I want to get rid of this toy" way). It is an easy way to get some wiggles out when the weather turns cold.
Hand-eye coordination is practiced with this fun toss and stick game. I remember having one as a kid and it is fun watching my kids enjoy it as well.
This has been a HUGE hit in our backyard. Emmett moves rocks around the yard that I didn't even know we had in the yard. It has also been used to haul friends through the grass while laughs echoed throughout the yard.
Create an obstacle course across the living room, or play floor is lava and work on some balance at the same time. I often walk into the living room and see a few or all of these across the floor.
I hope you find something fun for the kids in your life this holiday season!
