I love a good nerdy craft project. I will admit that Chemistry definitely wasn’t my forte in highschool and college (let’s just say that I definitely wasn’t going to become a Chemical Engineer). I’ve seen the different words spelled out with periodic table elements and decided that it would be fun to see what I could create with some awesome heavy duty beer steins that I had in my crafting stash.
I found an image of the periodic table and traced the elements that I needed in order to spell “BEER”. I somewhat underestimated how small some of the little items were inside the letters and numbers. I HIGHLY recommend using a CB09 blade (I first used this blade to make some awesome, and delicate, Star Wars mugs).
I pretty much exclusively use Orcal 651 vinyl (or the permanent outdoor from Expressions Vinyl) because I want everything to be as durable as possible. Technically, this beer stein isn’t dishwasher safe; however, I’ve had no problem running my items through the dishwasher (I did finally have to dispose of my Starbucks Tumbler, but that was because the mug itself cracked).
This mug would be a great gift (especially if paired with some actual beer). Do you have anybody on your gift list who would love to receive their own periodic table beer stein?
