Last week I posted a Whipped Coconut Sugar Scrub, at the same time, I also made a salt scrub. They have similar properties; however, the salt scrub is slightly more abrasive because of the shape of the salt particles. Salt scrubs work better for rougher skin. Because of these rougher particles, salt scrubs should not be used on the face.
DIY Salt Scrub
Ingredients
- Almond Oil
- Himalayan Pink Salt
- Essential Oils (optional)
Directions
- Mix 2.5 Tablespoons of almond oil into 1 cup of salt. I used Himalayan Pink Salt to give it a natural peach color. The almond oil is a very light oil and doesn’t have much of a scent. If you would like a scent like lavender or lemongrass, mix in 5-10 drops of essential oil.
Have you used a salt scrub before? Do you have a preference of salt or sugar scrub? I can definitely see the reasoning for both – salt for elbows and feet while the sugar can be used on the face.
