It all started on a flight to New Jersey. Yes, a trip to Paris started with a trip across the country. Normally when I take this flight, I purchase Wi-Fi for the trip so I can attempt to get some work done, and because I am always wanting to chat with people while I’m sitting in a tin can at 35,000 feet.
It was the end of October, and I was still thinking about what sort of joint gift Brad and I were going to do that year. There was nothing that we really needed or wanted for the house, and we always enjoy taking vacations to explore new parts of the world.
Somewhere over the mid-west, I also started contemplating how many miles I needed to maintain my current level of status on Delta. While I could have maintained status with a trip across the country, Delta’s medallion miles roll over to the next year so extra miles make you that much closer to another year of status.
So then I started researching what sort of places we could explore in a long weekend, without spending a fortune. From Seattle, the direct flights to Europe put us either at London, Amsterdam, or Paris. I had visited Amsterdam on my way to Nairobi a couple years ago, and the London flights were a few hundred dollars more expensive, so Paris it was!
After I had a bit of the needed information, I sent Brad a message to see what he thought. I fully expected him to tell me I was crazy and try to talk me out of going. He did tell me I was crazy, but agreed to go. And thus the planning began.
In some ways, it was the perfect timing for us to make a rash decision to fly almost halfway across the globe for basically 48 hours. There are so many things we had held off planning or doing as we waited for our adoption to happen, including big trips. Booking flights for a month out seemed somewhat safe that we wouldn’t have a placement within the four week period before the trip.
Now as we are working through our move, it is even more evident that last fall was the perfect time for a random trip to Paris.
Our weekend in Paris was a whirlwind, but it was such an awesome time. One of the favorite things that we did during the weekend was book a Flytographer photo shoot. We had an absolutely wonderful time with our photographer, Leo, and explored some areas of Paris that we normally would not have seen. I seriously get so many complements on these photos, and we had such a fun time walking around the city with him. I will definitely be booking another Flytographer shoot on our next vacation.
If you want to try out Flytographer for yourself, book through this link and get $25 off your first shoot!
Even though we only had a couple days to explore the city, we still managed to see quite a bit of the main attractions! While this year may be filled with other adventures, I can’t wait to take other weekend trips in the future.
